Taahirah Luddy
Taahirah Luddy (b.2000) is an interdisciplinary South African artist with a focus on urban pop art and digital work. She has always been artistic, but made the decision of professionally pursuing art at the age of 15. Her work aims to spark up a thought relating to social & moral awareness, and help the viewer see themself as the subject matter or what they could be.
Newspaper and coffee is a recurring theme in her work, that represents the beginnings and stepping stones of oneself. With the use of everyday materials, she tries to bring across the message that even though art is seen as an expensive lifestyle, there are always alternatives out there to make it feel more accessible to start out.
In this case, her use of spray paint and acrylics represents oneselfs improvements and growth as a person and artist.
In 2021 she had her first group exhibition as an emerging artist and never looked back since.
