Louise van Wyk

Louise van Wyk is a Cape Town based self-taught artist who prefers oil paint, but also works in other mediums.
She grew up in the Northern Cape, studied graphic design and worked full-time the printing industry for 20+ years. After working in a corporate environment for some time, she returned to graphic design as a freelancer and also works in data processing for international news agencies.
Louise believes in seeking out what is beautiful in the world, and therefore paints what is beautiful to her and what touches her soul. She believes each subject deserves its own individual approach, and prefers not to be tied down to a certain style or theme.
She is particularly interested in the effect of light on a subject and likes to use bold colour in her work. Creating an illusion of detail without painting in detail has been a life-long ambition for her.
