Judy Hilton-Green

I was born in Gauteng and educated both there and Natal, but lived most of my adult life in Grahamstown with my husband and four children.
I was Assistant Registrar at Rhodes University and was very involved with the schools that our children attended. My husband was a headmaster and we were always surrounded by children and university students.
My new found love for painting was developed and nurtured by my favourite aunt who was a well known artist in America and paid for my yearly visits to North Carolina. She introduced me to the nuances of watercolour and gave me the very sage advice that “life without painting is no life at all”. When my aunt died, I inherited all her wonderful equipment and made up my mind to try and follow in her footsteps.
When we moved to Capetown, I decided that I would take up painting seriously and have been attending regular art classes with well known artists since then. A day without sitting down with a brush in my hand is in my opinion a day wasted and my family have got used to me sneaking into my studio to try and create something new!
I am a member of various art Societies and exhibit my art as often as I can.
