Daniel K Tladi

Daniel spends much of his time studying nature and learning how poor people live in rural areas.
His work is about every day life experience of people living in South Africa, and in particular the North West province and its’ neighbour, Lesotho.
The work depicts people’s emotions, difficulties and challenges faced by the people each and every day. It highlights how people overcome these challenges and despite the odds, how they lead healthy, happy and productive lives.
Daniels’ work talks about relationships, in particular the relationship between humans and nature, how people and animals benefit from each other and the different traditional ways in which Bashotho people use animals for. How they are reliant on nature to survive.
The work shows different ways of living, how poor people go about doing things in order to survive and how different their lifestyles are compared to people in the cities.
Daniel tells the story of how culture is passed from generation to generation, how boys and girls are prepared for adulthood. It shows the activities that are done in rural areas like Lesotho and their traditional way of living. The way in which boys are trained to take care of animals and be able to do every day activities. Daniel shows the importance of having cows, as a symbol of wealth.
